A bit fuzzy, a bit woolly – like a PlaidCamper thought process…My goodness, some days, the news does not ever seem to get any better, or any more believable, and leadership responses that are thin-skinned and narcissist leave me slackjawed. Yes, this is where the healing power of nature is just the thing in our very strange and complicated socially constructed world. I’ve written it before, and I’ll write it again: If more people went outside (and hugged a tree) then the world would be a happier place. More of us might care for the land that is our mothership…
Complex, but not so complicatedBeing back in a working environment is fine, particularly when I can stop, take a walk during a break and find myself by the water or in the trees. Sometimes both! Then, at the end of day, or on the weekend, it is back outside we go, sometimes in need of a lift because I was foolish enough to scan the headlines, and even read on. When will I learn?!
Deep breath in, slow release out, and repeat until equilibrium is reestablished, or a bored Scout drags me off to explore more.
“I welcome my imbeachment!”Thank goodness for energetic dogs, understanding partners, and space to unwind. The other title I was thinking about for this piece was “Imbeachment or Impeachment?” but I thought better of it, mostly because imbeachment isn’t really a word, and because impeachment, fun though it might be to watch, isn’t really the answer. Do the right thing, midterm eligible people!

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

Enjoyed your creative plays on words, pc, always a chuckle gurgling as I read your posts, thank you. Great photos too, especially liked seeing the misty landscapes, cedar branches, and atmospheric weather. And I am in complete agreement…nature calms and heals. Have an outdoorsy weekend, my friend.
Thanks, Jet! A warped sense of humour combined with plenty of outdoor time seems to work. We have had a full range of summer/autumn weather over the weekend, switching rapidly back and forth between the two – and constant clothing changes!

I sure would like to imbeach a certain orange-haired imposter head-first in the sand before high tide in front of an oncoming hurricane– ah yes, just for personal satisfaction and maybe for world security, too. In the midst of all this political chaos, it is important to find time to laugh and “I welcome my imbeachment” and “you won’t face imbeachment alone” certainly helped with that. Lovely photos this week, especially enjoyed the Complex trees and the shot of you and Scout contemplating the distant fog and imbeachment. I’m hoping it is the voters that send a strong message to the Legislative branch this fall and that there is a strong check and balances returned to our government instead of the bizarre silence by one party to so many unacceptable headlines. At least if you do make the mistake of reading the headlines, you have the beaches and trees to escape to immediately instead of waiting until the weekend to escape the city. I had the wrong match picked for the weekend, the Manchester United/Watford match was much more entertaining than Tottenham/Liverpool. Hope the equilibrium has been restored and you’re enjoying the weekend!
Thank you! My weekend equilibrium was going great, but then I read the Everton match report! It’s like I can see into the future. Could have been worse – my brother is a season ticket holder, has been going for years, so he experiences the pain firsthand!
Yes, here’s hoping the midterms will offer a sign that the checks and balances work (please, please, please!)
I hope your weekend is going well, and all attempts at French toast worked out. I’ll be setting an alarm for next Sunday, because there’s a chance to watch Everton lose to Arsenal live on TV. I’m already miserable, and the game is over a week away!

We were supposed to get quite heavy rain over the weekend, but most of it fell after dark, and yesterday afternoon was warm and sunny. Coastal unpredictability…

Loved this post! Great captions on those slightly “off” photos. Our time surrounded by nature is supposed to lessen the pain of what is happening around us but it’s definitely not fool-proof.
Thank you! I imagine your current road trip is providing all sorts of “state of the nation” insights as you move across the country. Agreeing to disagree in a civilized and respectful manner appears to have gone out of the window in the current polarized environment.
The natural world provides a soothing balm for the political madness!

I’ll be honest, I stay out of politics and I rarely watch the news these days. I think the answer for you PC is to keep walking Scout, that beach and those photos of nature look mighty peaceful. Take care and have a good week.
Thanks, Miriam! I can’t help scanning the news, and need to be informed up to a point, but have to learn when to put the news away if it starts to consume my thoughts! Your solution involving Scout and a beach is the sensible one, and a far better use of time. Or even better, a lengthy road trip on dusty/muddy trails to an outback pub with no wifi – seems the perfect solution to many a modern problem, as recommended in your recent piece🍺
