August already? Where did July go? Mostly in a blur for us, but it was a colourful one…

Colourful and damp! I read a report on The Weather Network noting that July in Quebec had been one of the wettest in recent times, with Montreal and Quebec City receiving more than 200% rainfall compared to the average. Sherbrooke, a small city to the southeast of Montreal, received over 301mm, the wettest month on record. Keep heading east, and the Maritimes was even wetter than QC, suffering floods and record breaking rainfall. Luckily, locally, we have an umbrella or two. Colourful ones at that.

What an ongoing worrying time, climate-wise, that this summer is proving to be. The floods mentioned above, the extreme heat in southern Europe, the wildfires in the north and west. Yikes!

There’ll still be plenty of desperate-for-power politicians pretending there’s nothing to see here, being bankrolled by insatiable-for-more-wealth billionaires, and often voted for by (gullible – maybe?) folks wishing it all away, but c’mon! What more do you need to see before accepting we’re in trouble?

Anyway, with July done, here’s hoping August isn’t too extreme (either way) for rain or heat. Selfishly, I’d settle for the low 20s, and lengthy periods of sunshine and blue skies after frequent (but not too frequent) rain showers. The days where a shaded pint seems like a good idea…

Keeping it brief. Youngest brother unexpectedly required and survived a lifesaving operation earlier this week. Mightily relieved is an understatement. Our plans to share a pint or two have been put on (temporary) hold. I’ve always told him no good ever comes of cider. Now beer, however…
Thanks for reading, and here’s wishing you comfortable conditions for a wonderful weekend ahead!

Those colorful reflections from your new place bring some much needed cheer in these politically & environmentally difficult times. Thanks for that, PC, and all the best to your brother on the road to his recuperation!

Thanks, Walt! Brother was meant to be on the road to visit us, fortunately he canceled as was feeling unwell, so at least he was close to home and could benefit from a helicopter dash to the right hospital. Now he’s on the long road to recovery – better than the alternative!

I hope your brother has a speedy recovery. Our planets distress very concerning. I hate the way politicians say we need to do more but never lay out a action plan because it would be unthinkable change the status quo, to save the planet and future generations. Sigh.
Theses are my acyions: Plant based for 35 years. I avoid everyrhing plastic.compost, I recycle everything I can. Bike or plan any driving trips to do all tasks at once. Plant wildflower to attract pollinators. Use nature cleaning products in boxes and Bar shampoo. My guilty pleasure is travel but I am a wild camper.

Thanks, Kelly! He’s recovering, a long process, but relieved he’s still with us…
Like you, we’re plant based, recycle wherever we can, public transport or bike before driving, and guilty about occasional long trips.
Hope your week is off to a great start!

What a scary week for your family and I hope your little brother’s recovery is going well and that he can soon begin to make plans for that first round of cider!! Love all the color, especially the wonderful umbrellas! Everything about the world is striking me as too extreme, especially the politics and weather, and I’m afraid it’s only going to keep getting worse and I’m completely baffled by the people who refuse to see all the damage being done. It was very strange today to celebrate a rainy windy day and dream about fall and Kane finding a team in the next week. Hope England’s team has a better result tomorrow than ours and wish I could stop thinking about some of those final kicks. Enjoy the week with hopefully plenty of sunshine and good updates about your brother!🙂

Horrible past week or so, but he’s had his op, is on the right path to recovery, and we’ll visit him next month to check he’s behaving!
I’m cutting back on reading the news, it’s p*ssing me off too much. Beginning to feel like I did those post Brexit and Tr*mp in the White House years… not good.
Has Kane left yet?! England very fortunate earlier, not sure if they’re clicking. Australian triumph overall? Maybe…
Oh no, the Premier League starts this Friday – can’t wait to be sulking about Everton each week!
Enjoy your week ahead!
