Happy Campers

It’s Canada Day next Wednesday, a day we like to stop and think about how fortunate we are to be living and working where we do.

Warmer than it looks

For almost everyone, the year so far – are we only six months in?! – has been challenging, so it’s good to pause and be positive.

A different sense of time

Canada is very far from perfect, but I choose to believe that it’s a nation trying to progress towards greater inclusivity, aiming to ensure what comes next for all Canadians is an improvement on the past. Personally, I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else, in good times or tougher times, and I’m looking forward to Wednesday. Peering ahead, I’d like to think every day is Canada Day for all who live here.

Taken from Mount Ozzard. Hitacu near side, Ucluelet far side

So if you’re Canadian, know a Canadian, will become a Canadian, have visited Canada, would like to visit Canada, or you’re a big fan of maple syrup, then happy Canada Day to you!

Thanks for reading, and enjoy your weekend!

All accompanying photographs were taken this week when I was at work – what a spot to work in! (Not the beer photo – that was after work!)

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. Your work environment looks pretty great, PC. Wonderful foggy vistas and shorelines, fresh landscapes. That twisty tree with the secret entrances looks intriguing, too. I am happy you have beautiful Canada to call your home, and I wish you a wonderful week of celebrating. Cheers, my friend, and thank you for the great post.

    1. Thanks, Jet! We’re fortunate to be where we are, and we feel that more than ever these days…
Stumbling about some pretty wild places today, the young ones uncovered quite a number of intriguing trees. All were tough to get to – they’re making me stretch, that’s for sure.
I hope your week is off to a great start!

    1. Thanks, Jane! That particular place was close to the ocean and not too buggy. Today, however, has been a different story – bug-filled wetlands and dank forests. Beautiful, but a bit itchy!
I hope your week has started well!

    1. Thanks, Walt! There are plans to head up Ozzard once more later this summer, with fingers crossed we get the long views the other side, over Barkley Sound and across to the Broken Islands. I might even be a bit fitter by then…
I hope your week is going well.

  2. That is a fabulous workplace you have and what a wonderful photo and view from Mount Ozzard!! Loved the beer choice for this week so much that I had to look up the company to see if there was anything I could enjoy and since Harper has been called one a few too many times, I might have to try the Hooligan Pilsner. Thanks for sharing the Canadian beauty and positive vibes and have a wonderful Canada Day!!

    1. Hooligan Pilsner?! I’m going to look out for that one!
It’s good to be back out and about and remembering it’s supposed to be work. A real relief after months of shutdown. We’re hoping it can continue…
Enjoy your week, and shopping for a lockable mini-fridge!
