Misty morning strut

A new way to keep fit, PlaidCamper style, or perhaps a new song by the Stones?

Misty morning strut

Nope, just what I saw on the shore one morning earlier this week. It’s been a week of misty mornings followed by sunny afternoons before the fog rolls in for the evening. A fairly reliable pattern for August – I mean Fogust – and very enjoyable too.

Chilled

The fog has added a much needed sense of calm, or it does if I look at the water rather than the full to bursting parking lots. What’s with camping in your car when the lot signs clearly state no camping? Maybe I’m getting too old and too conformist. Can’t be too comfortable, trying to sleep in a vehicle not designed for it. I feel a rant coming on, and that’s not calming, so maybe we’ll keep it brief this week?

Lovely

Here’s another misty one, lovely to look at and maintain some calm, seen on my misty morning strut around the harbours this week.

Calm

Yup, definitely a brief one this week – off I strut, thinking calm thoughts… Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful weekend!

Hazy and calm

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. Love the misty morning photos and can imagine that some of your Mick Jagger moves might have Scout hiding in the fog!! Perfect beer choice this week if you need to let off steam instead of sharing a good rant and Steamworks Brewing has a wonderful selection of artwork and the Hazy Pale Ale actually sounds interesting. Hopefully the beautiful harbor continues to keep you distracted and the wonderful mist hides the crowds, if not one of those Keep Calm and Drink Beer signs might help!

    1. Steamworks is a consistently good brewer, and a reliable go to, can highly recommend the Hazy – very calming!
I’ll leave the moves to Jagger, if only to spare Scout’s embarrassment…
We’re hoping our shoulder season will be short, so we can see an end in sight to the car “campers” if nothing else.
Hope your week is going well!

  2. As always, a complete joy to read your post, pc. Had to chuckle at the “rant coming on,” as the anxiety seems to be quite universal these days with this long and lingering pandemic that never seems to end. Good that you have the misty morning struts, cool mornings, and yummy ale to help. I hope you have plenty of peace, my friend, during these chaotic times. Thanks for the great photos.

    1. Thanks, Jet! I’ll be honest, every now and then I rant, most weeks I post on the blog, and as these are two of my favourite things, when I get to combine them, all is well in PlaidCamper land. Mrs. PC might see that differently…
Back to something of a heatwave once again up here, so I do hope all is well with you further down the coast – increasingly troubling times, environment-wise, and particularly across the parched west – stay safe!
