Logging on, logging off

A brief post this week, as we’ve struggled (or not) with intermittent internet at the office, meaning I’ve had to work from home in order to communicate. Oh no…

Almost working from home. Oh no…

I have agency in deciding how to approach the day, but if Scout is home and happens to lead me astray, there’s little I can do. When the line manager (leash manager?) gets to decide? You log off and head out the door!

Logging on

Yes boss. It’s been some time since I last tried to be nimble on a log, and you’ll be happy to know that with age and experience and a dedication to lifelong learning, I’ve still to acquire the skills Scout has. When something is as easy as falling off a log, and you do, is that success? I fall off a log very easily. Applause! Go me! Is it correct that you have to stick the landing? I didn’t, but suffered no major injuries other than to my pride, and the distinct sense Scout was laughing at me.

As easy as… (the top one, if you were wondering…)

The sooner we have functioning wi-fi at work, the better for all concerned, so I can focus on my professional development from a chair rather than unprofessional physical prowess on a log. Like I say to students, it’s good to have a goal, but make sure it’s realistic and attainable with a bit of effort.

“I’m busy, working from home. Time to log off, so we can go out now?”

I’ll log off now, might be time to apply a little ice to tender areas, so let’s end by wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead!

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. Great to read you again Adam, you’ve fallen off my WP Reader, like many others. Good luck with the wifi issues and have a great weekend. Cheers from down under. 😊

  2. Logging on & off the internet, stepping on & falling off of logs, are “clear-cut” issues for an old-timer such as myself, so I completely sympathize & wish you the happiest of landings for the weekend!

    1. Thanks, Walt! It’s rarely graceful, but the landings have been kind enough, so far. Probably pushing my luck though, and should pay more heed to those who’ve been there, done that, and carry the scars… Hope you’re getting a touch more limber and agile, day by day, and ready to take on your trails!

  3. Glad you and camera weren’t hurt. I used to have good balance but had to quit the logging business. Now would Scout really be laughing at you? Agree with Wayne,, she looks good to go.

    1. Thanks, Jane! Yup, Scout’s always good to go, and yup, I should think about quitting the logging business – I’ve been getting away with it, and luck only holds so long…
I hope all is well with you!

  4. Always enjoy the log photos and it sounds like Scout has to add more training sessions for log walking into the daily schedule. Has Scout already started counting down the days until the summer break or been too distracted by the move and supervising the home office? Enjoy the weekend and hopefully walks without Scout laughing at you!🐾🙂

    1. Ha, life under Scout’s supervision is pretty full on, and she is demanding! I think her idea of fun on a log and my idea of fun on a log are moving further apart each time we’re out there…
Summer break? Seems so far away, and we’re yet to see spring in a meaningful warm way!
Sol look at Everton go, and let’s not talk about the Flames for now. Sputtering again?!
      Have a good week!
