Dog days

It’s been an odd summer, not at all bad, but certainly mixed. We’re thoroughly enjoying exploring our new home, and enjoying securing contractors to complete various landscaping projects a bit less thoroughly. To be clear, the contractors are great – they’ve all been, quite rightly, “en vacances” – but they’re back now and trying to catch up on backlogs due to the rainy weather. Finding contractors? An invisible modern day problem to be sure, and actually the delays have been helpful – we’ve agreed not to go with the Poseidon statue. I was so hoping…

Almost there… perhaps a Poseidon statue?

It hasn’t been all rain and meetings with builders. In between showers we’ve enjoyed picnics in the park. One picnic spot looked like a set from the Teletubbies show. (If you don’t know the Teletubbies, keep it that way. Our daughter loved them when she was a toddler. She probably still does, but don’t tell her I said that…)

Teletubbies live here

Scout has become more used to the heat and humidity, and with all the recent rain has even wondered if we left the rainforests behind? She might have a point:

“Walk through there? Yeah, sure- no!”

Agreeable weather permitting, Mrs. PC has absolutely insisted we go along to the Festibiere this coming weekend. It took a bit of arm twisting. I mean, over 100 local beers? OK, yeah, maybe we’d enjoy that… We’ve put in some training:

Training

Thank you if you took a look at the pig photo last week – I was going to write a not so controversial caption connecting pigs to Tories, but decided against it. All those greedy snouts in the trough, who wants to think about that? Instead, and far better, how about this joke from ACI?

A pig walks into a bar and orders 10 drinks. After he drinks them all, the bartender says “Don’t you need to know where the bathroom is?” The pig says “No, I go wee wee wee all the way home.”

Wee, wee, wee

That’s still funny after the umpteenth time!

There’s no way it’s going to get any better here this week, so let’s leave it for now. Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

More training – huffin’ and puffin…

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. I did laugh at your joke, pc, in fact, I still am. Enjoyed your post very much. I am glad to hear you’re settling into your new home and community, and doing your fair share of training for the weekend beer festival. Always a pleasure to be here, pc, thank you.

  2. Lots for you and your family to get used to.I do look forward to the finished product on the yard reno, and whether you’ve received Scout’s approval. I think she will be thrilled so find some big logs to climb over. Beer you can find anywhere, but is it really good? We used to drink Brador when I was young, mainly because it was 6% alcohol and we wanted to get drunk!

    1. Thanks, Jane! Until it cools down, all Scout is after is a shady patch, and we should be able to conjure that up for her by the time it’s all done…
Yup, on the beer front there are so many these days, and many I wouldn’t want to try a second time. Luckily, there are also many I would go back to, and unlike my younger self, it’s not the big alcohol ones that find most favour!
I hope your week is going well!

  3. OMG, all that fabulous training and 100 beers, who cares about rain, contractors, Mrs. PC thankfully vetoing the statue…!!😁 Too many more matches like that for Everton and you may decide you prefer yard work. Hopefully, you were still recovering from the festival and missed the match. Glad you enjoyed the joke and that you guys are having a great time in your new neighborhood and city! Hope Scout is adjusting to all the change, I’ve been surprised how well Harper has been dealing with all the chaos this summer. Looking forward to more great beer photos, love the Puffin shot!! Enjoy the week and keep up that dedicated training schedule!!😁

    1. Thank you – might have to train harder! Training isn’t the same as match day though…
Oh God, match day. Not too sure if I can recover from the non-performance Everton “delivered“ – it was so, so bad! Postmortem with my brothers, and pretty much expecting relegation as the best possible outcome this season!
Happy to see Harry had a great game last weekend – and how about Spurs not missing him at all?!
Hope your week is going well!
