Play time

A short post this week, a mini-celebration of winter, with something of a dog’s eye view on embracing the season! At least, she would if she could get out there…

“Looks great out there. Why am I stuck in here?”

Scout likes to get outside whatever the weather, and, when I wasn’t feeling too well not so long ago, we still had to go out – one of us needed to burn off some energy.

“I’m bored. You look fine. Can we go now? Can we? You’ll feel better – please, please, please…”
“I knew that would work! Yeah! Let’s go!”
“Whoa… it’s deep!”
“Might not be doing that headlong no look thing again…“
“Free at la— oh…”

Eventually we managed to go a little further afield, and Scout was even happier than her normal state of happy!

“This is more like it!”

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

A (medicinal) glass half full? Of course, and half at the very least…

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. Love this! Scout clearly knows what she wants and is determined to get out there, regardless of the weather or how you’re feeling Adam! Hope you all have an awesome pawsome weekend. 😀

  2. Great fun hangin’ with Scout today, pc. I especially like that first photo where she’s clearly got a strong wish. And all your snow, wow. So fresh and fluffy. Cheers to all three of you in your mini-celebration winter days. Hope you’re feeling better now.

    1. Thanks, Walt! Sure has been something of an unreliable winter – warmed up here yesterday and today, and I don’t much like it, the slush etc. Late March, early April, fair enough, but midwinter? Yikes!
Hope your weekend is going well, weather aside!

  3. Scott has your wrapped around her paw. I love Samuel Adams beer. I was at the brewery in down town Boston had a cheery favored one. It was delicious. The Wick Ale is brewed her at the Moosehead brewery in Saint John. I only just found that out. I’m going to go take a brewery tour maybe next week and hit up their brew pub. Cheers more to follow. Happy Friday 🍻

    1. Scout is in charge around here? Never! Well, maybe…
Yes, good beer from Sam Adams, and Boston, now that’s a fine city!
Your plan to take a Moosehead brewery tour seems a great way to spend a few hours! (Part of my ancient history, but back when I lived in London, we’d go drinking in and around Covent Garden, and often had a pint or two at The Maple Leaf pub – pretty sure it was Moosehead on tap…)
Looking forward to your brewery report – cheers, Kelly!

  4. Great photos of Scout. Seeing the steps reminded me of the dogs I took care of. If it wasn’t too cold, they would run out of the house and take a flying leap off the porch, missing the steps totally, whether I had had a chance to shovel them, or not. Total joy! No doubt you have lots of snow now and am happy to read that not feeling well is in the past tense.

  5. Wonderful to read you’re feeling better and taking care of your drinking partner!! Love the photo of Scout on the snowy path, your deck and the wonderful captions! I’ve always thought a good walk helps cure a cold. Spring officially arrived here on Friday and Harper is trying to convince me it’s not necessary to go outdoors in the mud. We actually had an hour of pretty skies yesterday, it was amazing. It’s already a stressful football day and I think I’m going to be exhausted by the end of the Detroit Lions game. Enjoy the week and I hope Scout still has snow to play in!!

    1. I checked the score at the half, looked to be Detroit all the way. Next morning, oh… what a game! Might time for a long spring walk?! Everton did an Everton, no cup run for them. Haven’t looked at recent Flames form, but I could guess!
We had a weird thaw up here through the weekend, very slushy, but winter has returned, snow later in the week, so play time for Scout is looking good!
I hope your week is off to a good start!
