…the pull of the west!

Yup, we’ve relocated, and you’ll never guess where!

The call of the mountains and wide open spaces was impossible to resist, so we didn’t. Calgary will be our home for the foreseeable future.

Irritatingly, I’ve been somewhat unwell the past couple of weeks, so haven’t had much chance to explore and reconnect with favourite people and places. The upsides are we’ve much to look forward to, the healthcare was excellent, the prognosis is all positive (once I get my strength back – I’m as weak as a kitten, or, or, an off colour early middle aged OldPlaidCamper) and I’ve had more time than I would have wanted to go through old photos and (re)use them here!

We’ll be properly out and about again by September. Meanwhile, I’m adding 5 minutes more each day to my walking time (I won’t even say how low the current total is, other than it would be a very short and flat trail), trying to keep up with Mrs. PC and Scout, and lining up a few new AB beers for when the time is right!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I hope you’re feeling stronger soon and are able to explore.

Thanks, Maria! Feeling stronger each day, and in the meantime I love complaining about my health, so it’s a win-win!

Thanks, Jane – we’re happy to be back in the west (nothing against the east – it’s very pretty, and we enjoyed our time there, but here feels like home)

I think we’ve both been under the weather the past little while? I bet I whinged about it more than you?!
I walked for just over an hour yesterday (striding off purposefully at the start, and coming back rather sweaty and wobbly at the end, haha) and it was good to get out for a little longer. I’ll be taking our normal good health a little less for granted and taking more intentional care.
Stay well and enjoy your next off grid adventure!

Thanks. I reckon we’d be on a par with the whinging, I’ve had my down moments lately but I’m picking myself up. Today I hiked 12kms with hubby, a relatively easy walk, which I really enjoyed, but boy I was glad to get back to the van. Cheers to not taking our good health for granted!

Never know what to expect from your adventures, but this week has quite the combination of excitement and stress!! Love the license plate and how wonderful you guys are back to a new adventure in the west and near the mountains. It’s been wonderful to see so much of Canada during your travel and moves and look forward to seeing the next chapter. I’m sorry to hear during all this excitement you had to deal with health issues and adjusting to a slow recovery. So glad to read you have a positive prognosis and while you regain your strength you might have the time to join me on my Stephen King reading/watching binge. I still haven’t had my margarita, but I will cheer you on with a favorite latte when you’re able to get around town and enjoy a beer. Hope Mrs. PlaidCamper is managing all the excitement, stress and worry. Make sure you take it easy and I was just wondering what the OldPlaidCamper’s definition of “foreseeable future” means. Take care and sending hugs to you and Mrs. PlaidCamper!!🙂

Thanks for your comment, really, really appreciate it.
What a month it has been…
Mrs.PC has done almost all the heavy lifting, literally and metaphorically this last month – what a star! With her medical background, she was the calm one, but there were a couple of days where we wondered if things were worse than it turned out to be…
You know better than most about being unwell, so I’ll say no more, other than I’ve a slightly better insight into the patient role, and hats off to all who handle it with such good humour and stoicism. That’s not me, it turns out!
As for the future, we’re never moving again (until we do!)
Have a wonderful week!

So glad you’re on the mend there, Adam, to better enjoy each day in your old “camping” grounds in lovely western Canada. Life is full of surprises, big & small, as you so clearly indicate. The allure of the West is like a cold Canmore Ale on a hot day & we’re all hoping you enjoy that taste again in many ways. Cheers!

It’s the thought of a trip to the Canmore Brewery keeping me going! Oh, ok, maybe not just the beer…
I’m doing fine, better each day, and (like all of us?) hoping for life to throw only the more pleasant personal surprises…
Thanks, Walt, and I hope your summer has been full of welcome surprises and enjoyable events! Seems to be racing by this season?

In my effort to catch up on your posts I see that so much has happened. I am sorry, pc, to hear about your health issues, but glad to hear you are healing and improving with each new day. I once had two different times when I was slowed w.a.y. down by health issues, and one thing slowing down did for me was it gave me more time to look at things around me. And a relocation back to Calgary. Well I understand how the west calls very well. So I wish you the very best in the days ahead in healing and in soaking up the west.

Feeling so much better the past few days, and an unwanted slowdown hasn’t been so bad… (but I’m still impatient to get back up to what passes for my normal speed!)
Thanks, Jet!
