Pondering the ponderosas…

…just outside Merritt, BC. After a few rain showers, we took a short hike along the shore of Nicola Lake, following a pretty trail winding through towering ponderosa pines. These are such beautiful trees, so striking with their red trunks and long, long needles. I’ll keep it brief and let the trees and the lake do the talking below!

Tall pines
Young tree, long needles
Lakeshore trail, after the rain
Farewell rain, hello sunshine!
We like camping here – little chance of flooding…

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. I so very much enjoyed being in the ponderosa pines here, pc. Love those big skies, long needles, red trunks, gorgeous lake and quiet trail. Thanks so much for taking us along today, my friend. I’m delighted to see you and Mrs. PC are continuing your wild adventures. Sending best wishes to you both~~

  2. I love the red textured bark of these trees, which nicely surround your raised, well-groomed campsite. The reds and greens in the photos look so pretty next to the blue skies and waters. Looks like you have good weather, to boot. This is a reminder to get going on my blog. Been so lazy…Did you get on the Coquihalla highway? Enjoyed your views, getting excited for a brief trip to Jasper at the end of the month. Safe travels…

    1. Monck Provincial Park has a beautiful little campground, very pretty by the lake and in the pines. It’s about 25 minutes off the Coquihalla highway.
Our travels this trip are about over, almost home.
Enjoy your Jasper visit – perhaps some great fall colours?

  3. Moody and magnificent. And then the grey skies shifted to blue. Gorgeous scenery and I love the look of your camper Adam. Keep enjoying it all. Cheers to a great weekend and more blue sky camping adventures. 😊

    1. Thanks, Miriam! That camp spot is a favourite – pretty and quiet.
Almost done for this trip, two and a bit months, and the little camper has kept us warm and dry and/or cool and comfortable!
Might be time for one more brief trip before the snow…
      Have a great weekend!
