Yule logs

The plan was to resume normal service here at OldPlaidCamper after all our recent excitement, but a huge storm has caused a power outage, so I’m reduced to tapping out this post on my phone late on Thursday night and hoping it appears on Friday. Small keyboard, chunky thumbs and poor vision – I’d best keep this brief.

You’ll be happy to hear Scout is no worse for wear after her solo wilderness trip – she’s hanging out with us a bit closer than previously, a little wary, and needing to regain some weight, but otherwise all good.

We don’t go overboard with the seasonal festive stuff, but having Scout back is quite the gift. Soon, we will be back on the trails looking for branches she can chew and places for her to dig – wonderful!

A warm glow

If you celebrate the season, then happy holidays, and have a great weekend and week to come!

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

      1. Thanks Adam, someday we will have to venture out to experience some of those storms first hand. The power in a sea like that has to be an awesome to see, feel and hear.

  1. Chunky fingers, small keyboards and failing eyesight – I can relate. I know that this holiday season will be even sweeter with Scout’s return. Merry Christmas to you, Adam, and to your family both near and abroad!

    1. Thanks, Jet – we couldn’t be happier about Scout’s return. We are looking forward to some long (wet and windy) beach walks over the next few days with Scout – on leash!
Wishing you and Athena a wonderful weekend and happy holidays for this coming week!

  3. Adam, that last photo, with its warm Solstice glow, feels like a great summation to your recent trial of luring Scout back to the fold (which might be compared to the photo of the surf kicking out those pesky logs and free-floating flotsam). You did a nice job of tapping out your message via phone. Our best wishes to you for the holiday season!

    1. Thanks, Walt! Glad you enjoyed this one, and yes, we hope our Scout related trials are over and she’s wise enough to remain in the fold. I’m happy to report the power was restored earlier this evening – sometimes the outages can last days, and I’m not sure I could write regularly using a phone keyboard. Truly painful…
Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season!

    1. Thank you! We are delighted Scout is back!
I almost wish the power hadn’t come back on – that game was one not to watch. Oh dear. But well played by the Spurs team, they feasted on Everton defensive turkey today…
      Have a wonderful holiday!
