Social distancing

Or, in my case, being something of an introvert, anti-social distancing. Silver linings…

Silver linings

Clearly there is plenty to be concerned about presently, what with Covid-19 and the toilet roll fights in supermarkets. They cut those scenes from “Mad Max” didn’t they? I imagine John Woo or Sam Peckinpah could have had a slow motion field day with scraps and shreds of toilet paper floating through fight scenes of suburban scrappers going toe to toe over the last packet of spaghetti. Pasta pugilists…

Back to the social distancing. I don’t mind if that’s the way it has to be. Avoid large crowds and social gatherings? Oh, alright. Drive thru virus testing, then a quick stop at the drive thru growler refill station. Doesn’t sound too bad.

Another growler? No!

Oh gosh, I just sneezed. I’ll keep this brief, as I suddenly feel the need to google the early onset symptoms. All photographs this week are from Florencia once again, and if you’ve got to be socially distant, this seems as good a place as any!

Anti-social distancing? If I must.

Flippancy aside, please be well, look after yourselves, family, friends and neighbours, and remember pasta shouldn’t be overcooked and is best enjoyed with a glass of red wine. Or two.

Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful weekend!

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. It is good to remember to enjoy this life~easy to forget when the headlines have us go into survival mode. Cheers and try not to suffer your isolation too much! 😀

  2. Oooh wine, a walk in the woods, watching some old movies, yes! Social distancing, yes! My only concern is that I have enough art supplies!!! We have a big snowstorm coming in and that is a good excuse to stay home some more. Great post as usual. Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy some favorite beverages.

  3. Social distancing comes naturally to an old curmudgeon like myself. And as the virus goes virile on the “socials,” I’ll keep away from them as well, excepting regular visits to a few fine blog sites such as OldPlaidCamper! Thanks, as always, for posting from the lovely silver linings of the sea, a great vicarious escape from the spewings of the Wall Street worshippers in the White House & surroundings.

    1. Thanks, Walt! In time, perhaps people will look back at what is happening now and reconsider what their societal/electoral choices have been, and make better decisions in the future, less swayed by Wall Street and charlatan leaders. You can hope…
In the meantime, embrace the social distancing and do keep well!

  4. Hub and I recently said that given we have to practice social distancing it’s a good chance to do a long road trip up the isolated coast of West Australia! I like the sound of that red wine and pasta! Stay well my friend.

  5. Loved the photos and all the introverts happy with social distancing, but I’m discovering that during a crisis everyone is panicking and wanting to talk to one another, whether it is at the store or park. I’ve never had so many talk to me while I’ve been out this week and I’m still trying to contain my panic when someone coughs or sneezes around me, which now seems to happen every time I’m out. I love the social distancing vibe of your photos and the “pasta pugilists” comment and, as our state continues to shut down everything, I’m still hoping the Starbucks drive-thru always remains open and I’ve already stocked up on plenty of wine. Happen to have any TV or movie recommendations to help replace the sports?? Hope you’re enjoying the weekend and more introvert social distancing than me! Take Care!!

    1. Thank you! Yes, the current crisis seems to have made people more chatty, dammit! Things do seem to have moved rather quickly over the weekend, and here’s hoping folks remain calm and respond sensibly…
Movie recommendations? Well, I did enjoy the gleefully nasty remake of “Child’s Play” which had a few points to make about dependence on technology. More than a few swipes at Amazon’s Alexa. Gory, though.
I enjoyed the first two seasons of “Narcos” if you haven’t seen that. Also, “Suburra” if you like crime stories. I found it gripping, a tangled tale of politicians, the church, mafia and small time crooks in Rome.
Stay well, I hope the Starbucks drive-thru remains open and your stock of wine is sufficient!

  6. As usual you had me chuckling here, pc. I hadn’t thought of the social distancing as a positive for my introverted ways, but now I’m really smiling big. I always wish everyone would just stay home and now I can wish it freely! I loved your images of the TP fights, and “Pasta pugilists” gave me a good laugh. Thanks for the well wishes, too. My best to you and Mrs. PC for continued strong immune systems and your much-appreciated free-thinking perspectives.

    1. Thanks, Jet! I think you said you were in SF over the weekend? I wonder if it seemed quieter than usual? A small silver lining…
Glad you had a laugh or two here, and we might as well try and retain a sense of humour, even though these are likely to be trying times ahead.
Take care, be well, and guilt free when it comes to social distancing!

  8. It’s good to hear from you, Kelly! Nothing wrong with taking a time out, a chance to steady the ship and plan for happier or more straightforward times ahead.
    Stay safe!
