A hint of change

Something different? Positive change, one hopes…

We’re still processing the results of the election for our southern neighbours. It takes time to come to terms with change, and clearly the present occupant of the White House is struggling with his loss. We’re hoping the tantrum will soon be over, acceptance will follow, and bags will be packed. Ready to go! No need to share updates, just quietly disappear…

Ready to go!

We’re in a very autumnal phase, with quite a bit of wind and rain, and that’s blowing away the mental cobwebs, as well as many leaves. It’s exhilarating, and hugely preferable to what felt like endless mental exhaustion. For now, the stormy days, grey skies and heavy winds don’t seem so bad when there is some positive change blowing in!

I sense a change…

We’ve enjoyed hints of sunshine and a few warm hours, both on the beach and in the woods. Scout is always light of heart and bouncy in step, and we’ve felt more like that ourselves the past few days. We’re almost keeping up with her!

Yum

We have celebrated, and hasn’t that felt better than all the recent commiserating? Four challenging years are almost behind us. This year has been particularly miserable, and as 2020 draws to a close, it’s pleasant to be able to look ahead and hope for better days. No, we’re not thinking the next four years will be all unicorns and rainbows – we realize all the unicorns have been taken by those pro-Brexit types and are being readied for release onto the sunlit uplands – but some return to slightly better will be just fine.

A fairly brief post this week as we look forward to a quiet weekend. Some beach time, some forest time, and perhaps we’ll explore another 33 Acres of Ocean!

Sunlit (the unicorns pranced away and out of shot)

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Evidence! Do you think this will stand up in court? (Thanks to DJT for sending me this)

I am a would be outdoorsman - that is if I had more time, skills and knowledge. When I can, I love being outdoors, just camping, hiking, snowboarding, xc skiing, snowshoeing, paddling a canoe or trying something new. What I lack in ability, I make up for in enthusiasm and having a go. I'd never really survive for long out there in the wild, but I enjoy pretending I could if I had to...

  1. Perfect, Adam. That last image is funny and true…the narcissist sociopath will not admit defeat. We sure appreciate the positive support as we navigate the end of this nightmare. Love your calming photos…thanks.

  2. I’m sitting here chuckling at that hilarious map, PC. I thought of you last Sat. when the announcement was made. Great post, and you’re right, it will take some time. I’ve enjoyed the way most of our country has moved on with the new president-elect and we’re just waiting for the lunatic to finish his tantrum. The relief here has been palpable. Lovely photos and words today, my friend. I like the photo of Scout resting on the beach because he’s so busy whiffing up his surroundings. Cheers to Change.

  3. I see Hawaii and Alaska have been abandoned! Great,we now claim them! Alaska should of been part of Canada anyways!
He who shall not be named will never finish this tantrum!
Scout is always a happy bear! She’s a good girl! Give her a treat from me please.

    1. It does seem to be a lengthy tantrum, doesn’t it?! As he’s not paying attention, let’s erase a couple of lines on the map, join Alaska to Canada, and see if he notices? Would we have to give Palin citizenship?!

  4. 33 Acres of Oceanic bliss & more, a most exhilarating season in this bizarre year, with Scout sniffing the excitement of change, and my own chuckle at the child’s red map. He won, he wishes. Yeah. Thanks PC for another entertaining read.

    1. Yes, we’ve enjoyed a few more acres of ocean, seems the right thing to do. Bizarre is one word for this year! I’m happy it’s drawing to a close, and hoping for better days ahead. Quieter ones, at any rate…
      Take care!

  5. No, I do not think these outlandish ideas will stand up in court, and early cases have proven that. It is a reminder to all of us to take our democracy seriously. Scout is delightful in the photos and will keep you happy and in good health as you follow her enthusiastic approach to life.

    1. Scout keeps us relatively sane and reasonably healthy as we try to keep up!
As for the political tantrum to the south, here’s hoping we’re close to hearing the last of that…

  6. Love the change blowing in and beautiful Scout on the beach!! I’m ready to move on to the realities of today and our new leadership, but I imagine it’s absolutely impossible for him to grasp the fact that he’s joining so many in our country this year that had COVID-19, lost their jobs and are being evicted after a year of completely ignoring the real issues while mocking everything out on the campaign trail. I promised to stop talking about him, but my fingers refused to stop typing. Glad you were able to celebrate, I’ve been missing the weekly beverage update, and absolutely love the map!!

    1. Thank you! The four year rant from the White House is almost over, but like in a race, it’s the last yards that are the hardest. Looking forward to January, and Biden’s swearing in – it’s childish, but I want to see if the toddler even turns up!
This could be a beer heavy winter, what with the restrictions tightening, so there’ll be beverage updates!
