If Fogust is a thing (and it is out here) then why not Fogtember?

We were out on the coastal trails, remarking how sunny and warm it was for the first day of September, and how the sun sparkled on the distant water.

We decided to stop and soak up the warmth on the black rocks, sitting above hundreds of beached and bleached logs, and watching the boats bobbing up and down just offshore. What a pleasant afternoon!

I clambered down to take a closer look at the logs – I like the texture and faint aroma, but don’t tell anyone, they might think that’s odd… Anyway, when I rejoined Mrs. PC up on the rocks, it was still sunny, but the afternoon was about to take a cooler turn. No, nothing I’d said, but a fog bank had rolled in pretty swiftly.

We sat for a few minutes more, and the fog swallowed the far off boats, the sun, and then the trees further along from where we sat. Fogtember had appeared!

Deciding it was distinctly chilly, we set off for home, with the regular warning blasts from the lighthouse for good company. The start of September, cooler evenings, with hints of rain later this long weekend? Hmm, whisper it, but I think summer, such as it was in this little corner, might be drawing to a close…
Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful long weekend! (Oh, and I almost promise not to try and make Fogtober a thing!)

Glad that you experienced some clear ocean vistas, Adam, countered with some beautiful Fogtember scenes, as well. The contrasts are rejuvenating.

That is very warm! The seasonal change is pretty quick to arrive where you are. Been reading about wildfires not so far from you – hope all is well.

A little cooler but the smoke is rolling into Edmonton. Last night on the news it said the fire was the size of Sherwood Park.

Fabulous photos, especially the last Fogtember shot!!🙂 The mist and fog this morning suited my mood on the way for coffee after our heatwave and Notre Dame loss. There should have been no sulking on the coast this weekend over the wonderful weather or football with that great Everton/Liverpool match (was that really offside?!) That second half was more exciting than the final quarter of my football game. Cheers!!🍻😎

It’s been a very long time since I’ve enjoyed a Merseyside derby, but this was it! Everton not too bad (definitely not offside, haha, but if it had been allowed, a 2:1 loss would have followed, cos that’s how it goes…) and Liverpool not too good. Draw seemed fair enough. Some good games all weekend, and look at Spurs marching on! That’ll take your mind off the football issues?!
We’ve had “real” rain on and off this weekend, in between Fogtember and sunshine, so it sure feels like fall. Bound to be warm and sunny the coming week as it is back to school here!
Enjoy your week ahead!

I sure enjoyed your photos of the coast, pc, the sunny and foggy ones. Wonderful that you climbed down to enjoy the texture and smell of the beached logs, seemed like a wonderful thing. Cheers to you, my friend, in all the seasons.

Thanks, Jet! We’ve been getting a good mix of sunshine, rain and fog the past few days, and a definite sense the season is turning (I’m sure the young ones returning to school are delighted it’s sunnier today than over the recent long weekend!)
I hope your week is going well!
