Wandering through town in the days following the recent long weekend, we sensed something of a turning point, both in the season and how busy things seemed. After a summer seeing long lineups morning, noon and night for popular places to eat, this week appears quite calm. Business still looks pretty good for proprietors, but the lines out the door have disappeared. Phew! Maybe it’ll be easier to snag a seat up at the brewery in the next little while…

The coastal trails are certainly quieter, and with some late season sunshine, the black rocks have been a pleasant place to sit with a cup of coffee and think calm thoughts.

Mrs. PC startled a bear, or was startled by a bear the other day, as a tree Scout was exploring turned out to have a small bear heading up the other side of the trunk. A quiet and calm retreat ensured all was well, but it reminded me to look up more often, pay a bit more attention the next few weeks. Bears are filling up on berries, as evidenced by piles of purple poop deposited along the trails. So, make that looking down, as well as up, and left and right while we’re at it.

All in all, a calm and fruitful time of year in this corner of the PNW. We know the rain is coming, so we’ll enjoy the golden days while we can!

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Ahhh, I really enjoyed the calm here, pc. Gorgeous marina photos and seascapes. What a wonderful place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. Fun bear stories, too. Sending lots of smiles to you, Mrs. pc, and Scout.

Thanks, Jet! Many bears being bears at the moment, but well fed and not a nuisance, which is all good. Glad you liked the calm – hope your weekend was fun, and the week to come goes well!

I am glad it looks peaceful, calm and so beautiful there. So happy the bear story was a good one for both you and Mrs PC.

Thanks, Jane! We’re enjoying the slower pace about town, now there are fewer visitors. Touch wood, the bears are well fed and not causing any issues…
Have a great week!

Beautiful shots of the harbor and blue skies!!😎 Love your coffee stop location and Harper would definitely prefer that spot over our busy sidewalks, but I’m afraid that unlike wise Scout, she would have ran around the tree nonstop looking for the bear. Wonderful to read it was a peaceful bear encounter and a week of some calm moments!🐾😎

Thank you! Scout has been most unScout-like around the bears recently. Normally, like any good would be wolf, her hackles go up and we get fair warning of a bear in the vicinity. But last week with Mrs. PC and the bear, and a few weeks earlier when a bear wandered past our back window, Scout hasn’t even twitched! She’s so calm…
Hope your week is off to a great start, and full of fall weather!

The rain is on it’s way to you, having given us a great soaking “down under”. No bears to worry about here but the change of season will see slithering snakes so it’s eyes down on the trails as well. Now where’s that cold beer ?

Can’t go wrong if you’ve got a cold one nearby! You’re heading into brighter days there as we wind down summer here, and yes, we’ll be getting some big rains soon! No worries, we’ll just have to switch to fall/winter darker pints… cheers! 🍻
