The past few weeks have been pretty strange. That could be a reference to our prolonged and very dry spell. Or it could be a description of what has been taking place politically and economically in my birth country… Maybe it’s both. What is happening?!

I’ve been very distracted by events back in dear old Blighty. We haven’t lived there in nearly two decades, and whatever reasons we had at the time for moving away don’t seem to have been too far off the mark all these years later. It’s not that we saw what was to come. Anyway, it’s been upsetting to see – we have family and friends enduring the ongoing political clown show, and it isn’t funny. How many Prime Ministers, Chancellors, Home Secretaries in the last few years? Months? Weeks?! What is happening?!

I’m very aware that there are many places suffering far worse, militarily, politically, and economically, than the UK. To my inexpert eyes, it would appear the rise of “populist” political figures (surely there’s no link between years and years of woefully underfunded education/less teaching of critical thinking and the rise of these figures?! No…) equates to the demise and decline on view.

A friend texted me earlier, just after Truss resigned. We’d agreed at the time she was “elected” PM that that was the bottom of the Tory barrel. Now she’s been ditched after a destructive and disastrous few weeks, and the Tories are looking once more, but where do you look if you’ve already scraped the bottom of the barrel? Is there a barrel? Is it the same barrel? Or another one underneath, one that contains some previously undiscovered talents? Isn’t the well, or barrel, dry? How low do you go? Hmmm.
Oh, I could go on, but I won’t, you’ll be pleased to hear. I’ll just get upset! Let’s try and get back on track. The almost ranting old man went for a walk with his dog, and he was calmed by that. The weather was pleasant (aside from the worrying lack of rain) and the views were lovely. The dog was content. There you go, almost normal, or what passes for normal around here. I’ll do better next week…

Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
to put a cherry on top of your sour rant…………what do you think of good old Boris coming back from the grave?

Boris, Danielle, the whole political world has gone mad and it is freaking me out …good advice, I will go for a walk and pet one of the neighbourhood dogs. Lovely photos, by the way. They describe things very well.

Thanks, Jane! Nothing a good walk in the woods or wherever can’t put into a little perspective. And Scout’s also very good for that!

Who?! Nope, not this time…

The whole political scene, East & West, seems to be leaning farther & farther to the right (and, naw, couldn’t have nuthin’ to do with our lack of attention to educational systems, to a lack of critical thinking, or to increasing pressures of a growing population). I like Scout’s attitude, peering to the horizons of the moment, to the here & now of nature. It’s a place where everyone dwells, of course, if we only took the time to see & to acknowledge. Thanks for another interesting view of things!

Thanks, Walt! You, and Scout, have the right remedy, at least day to day – keep getting outside, take in the real horizon, and count blessings…
Hope all is well with you!

I follow the UK politics too, it has to be a bit embarrassing to the party. It doesn’t seem to matter the country, it seems to be the nature of the beast that conservatives eat their own. Tough crowd to please..I’m glad you and scout can relax and enjoy your surroundings. Cheers friend.

It’s all a bit of a soap opera right now… Ok, another Tory PM, let’s see if they can put country before party! Not likely, but I don’t see them calling for a general election anytime before they have to!
Hope your week is going well!

Some days I feel like I’ve been silently ranting daily for the last six years about the world and politics!! As a news junkie, I’ve been following the events in Britain and it was shocking to watch the lettuce story, Boris throw his name back in before removing it and to watch the reactions of the people commenting on the government failure. We have elections in a few weeks and while I keep hoping for the best, I’m very concerned. Thankfully we have your beautiful photos, scenery and Everton scoring three goals in a win to cheer us up (have they ever scored three in a match before?!?!😁) We still won’t mention any Tottenham scores and tell Scout she has my vote!🐾🙂

Haha, two of my brothers were at the game, and I’ve suggested they attend all future home matches, as this is the lucky charm…could get expensive for one, as he’d have to fly in from DC…but I price I’m willing (for him) to pay!
Won’t mention Spurs.
Oh, British politics – just yikes! Johnson doing a Trump impression in his “regretfully I cannot stand (this time) even though I’d win” speech. What a humiliation for him, most enjoyable. I still think the lettuce is the best bet, but I guess we’ll have to wait for Sunny to screw up first…
Yes, Scout time spent outdoors is the way to remain somewhat anchored in these challenging times. She appreciates your vote of confidence!
Enjoy your week!
